Methodology

1. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

Organization of the Team

The coaches assisted by the moderator selected seven students from the First Year Special Science class. They were carefully chosen based on their skills as to communication and computer literacy. Thereafter, the coaches sent letter of communication to the parents informing them of their children's participation. There was a positive response in fact they permitted their sons and daughters to do the designed tasks in any time of the working days and at any places necessary for the coverage of the videos and photos.

On learning the Tasks and Skills

Before the conduct of the related activities, the student bloggers had undergone inputs on the needed skills in order to complete tasks. It was an informal training conducted by the coaches and the moderator every after classes. The DPSA researchers from the higher year levels also assisted the bloggers in learning the different  tasks. The process helped them to do the job easily. The coaches then prepared the necessary applications as well as equipment needed in the whole process of the research.

In order to be guided with the series of activities, the group formulated a time table of activities with the persons involved.

Brainstorming on the Content and Design

The bloggers with the coaches and the moderator convened for the planning on the design of the blog site as well as its contents. The group unanimously agreed to feature one of Barobo's bounty, the “Bogac Cold Spring” and its impact to the lives of the Barobohanon youth.

After it was being finalized, the group then decided on the appropriate design of the blog site. They made it sure that the design itself will suit to the chosen topic.

Stakeholders' In Action

In order to draw support, the group identified the different entities and individuals who could share a big part in the whole duration of the research.

The coaches and the moderator then called the attention of the parents for a meeting. It was the time when the idea of organizing a council was formed. They committed themselves to support fully on the series of activities. Proof to this was their participation as they initiated the Fun Run “Dagan Alang Sa Kalamboan” activity in order to source out funds to support the research activities.
The said Fun Run indeed gathered a number of participants from the municipal and barangay officials, different sectors, government and non-government organizations, teachers, students, and other people from the different walks of life. During the opening program, the Chairman of the council, former Vice Mayor of Barobo, Mr. Elenito Reducto highlighted the promotion of Bogac Spring as one of the tourists destinations at the heart of the municipality. He even stressed that part of the raised funds will be allocated for the improvement of the spring.

2. BLOGGERS: MAPPING THE COMMUNITY

In order to gather enough information for the blogsite, the student bloggers with the guidance of the coaches and the moderator coordinated with the Local Government Unit for the plans and ordinances in relation to the development and preservation of Bogac Spring. The Ecological Solid Waste Management coordinator tightened the implementation pertaining to the preservation of the said spring. Anent to that, they also attended the public hearing at the spring. It was conducted to inform the people especially the residents near the spring on its plans for development.

As they go along with their interviews, they found out that the said spring produced a number of swimmers who reached even to national level. It became their training ground and starting point of their success. They then interviewed the coaches as well as the parents of the identified athletes.

Since all of the alumni swimmers were already working in other places, the group set up an online interview with them because they were the pioneering champions who brought pride to the town after winning gold medals from provincial to national level competitions.

During the course of the community mapping, it was so timely that an Inter-colleges swimming competition was held. It came out from the results that most of the winners were Barobohanon athletes.

To substantiate the story, the group created a movie featuring the life of a typical Barobohanon swimmer who started playing at the spring and dreamed for gold.

The group then started to develop the blogsite using the data they have gathered. The bloggers spent their free time after school hours even to the point of working during night time just to have quality output. They themselves made the hands-on on the different applications on the blogsite making.
